Winners of the PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month and PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month Awards for June announced

  • Kilkenny camogie’s Katie Nolan and Cork footballer Orla Finn are the women’s winners
  • Clare hurler Tony Kelly and Kerry football’s Sean O’Shea pick up the two men’s awards

Four brilliant players have been rewarded with Player of the Month awards following their exceptional performances throughout June.

Kilkenny camogie’s Katie Nolan and Cork footballer Orla Finn scoop the PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month Awards while Clare’s Tony Kelly and Seán O’Shea of Kerry are named as PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month award winners for hurling and football respectively.

Katie was one of the stars of Kilkenny’s recent League final win over Galway, while her goal against Tipperary in the semi-final was key to sealing a dramatic win and their place in the decider.

Orla was key to Cork’s run to the recent LGFA League final, though her eight points at Croke Park weren’t enough to prevent defeat to Dublin.

Tony was at his sensational best as Clare powered to Munster SHC quarter-final victory over Waterford, notching another 1-12, including 0-5 from play, to go with his many other big individual tallies in major matches.

Seán pulled the strings in the Kerry attack once again as the Kingdom finished joint-League winners along with Dublin and then brushed Clare aside in the Munster SFC, his 1-7, including 1-4 from play, catching the eye.

PwC are now proud sponsors of the Player of the Month Awards across camogie, hurling and football, men’s and women’s. This is the first year that the PwC GPA Women’s Player of the Month Awards are being presented alongside their male equivalents. The prizes on offer for the winners match those presented to the male monthly winners.

Commenting on the announcement, Feargal O’Rourke, Managing Partner, PwC, said: “Sincere congratulations to Katie, Orla, Tony and Seán from all of us at PwC on being named Player of the Month Award winners for June. Each of them demonstrated  superb individual performances, which were vital for their teams.  We wish them all the best as the Championship season really starts to pick up pace and we look forward to a brilliant summer of action on the pitch.

“These Player of the Month Awards reward excellence across men’s and women’s Gaelic Games and we at PwC are proud to partner with the GPA to ensure that the effort, dedication and skill of all Gaelic players is celebrated equally.”
