Time 2 Thrive

The Gaelic Players Association will this week host the first in a series of member exclusive webinars to both support players through and help players thrive during the current Covid 19 crisis. While the current restrictions in place to help tackle the ongoing global pandemic have impacted greatly on the professional and sporting commitments for our members, the GPA has seen significant demand for programmes and services during these uncertain times.

The series kicks off on Thursday evening when GPA Personal Development Coach, Declan O’Connell delivers a webinar titled Mindset Matter: Thriving in Uncertainty.

In the session Declan will provide practical tools to help players identify opportunities in this current uncertain time when there are no games and no collective training.

The Time 2 Thrive series will also provide useful information and tips with their nutrition during a time of reduced training load (Dr Brendan Egan, DCU), the challenges and opportunities in injury and performance (Enda King, Sports Surgery Clinic), financial wellbeing (Seán Cavanagh, Chartered Accountant) and sleep and wellbeing in athletes (Michelle Biggins, Chartered Physio and PhD Candidate researching sleep in elite athletes).

Details of these sessions will be communicated directly to players via the GPA’s player exclusive app and also via squad reps.

The GPA will also be rolling out various other content to complement the series.

Support and development services offered by the GPA on an ongoing basis to players have also been adapted to take into account the restrictions on movement but remain available to players. The GPA provide a range of support programmes to members from career development, education support, personal development planning and health and wellbeing support.
