Applications now open for Google Digital Garage programme for GPA members

The Gaelic Players Association and Google are delighted to announce that the application process for Round 2 of the Business Development Programme with Google’s Digital Garage is now open.  Ten businesses owned or operated by inter-county players will be given the opportunity to be mentored by Google experts to help them grow their businesses online successfully and sustainably.

Ten Businesses have already benefited from the partnership having been selected as part of Round 1 of the programme. Those who have gone through the process were involved in up to five personalised mentoring sessions with a dedicated Google mentor team where established business goals were worked towards.

Participating businesses will receive expert advice and guidance on how to use Google tools, products and digital marketing strategies to be more visible online and engage customers. Each mentoring series is tailored to the players’ business goals and each business will also have the opportunity to attend two exclusive masterclasses with a Google expert.

Speaking about the opening of the application process GPA Player Development Manager Ian Reeves said; “I would advise any player who is involved in the running of or ownership of a small business to get in touch and apply for this programme.  The feedback we have received from those involved so far is all extremely positive and we expect strong interest once again.  In these challenging times for the business community support such as this could prove to be invaluable.”

Damian Lynch, Head of Sales, Google Customer Solutions, Google said; “We’re thrilled that the first round of this partnership has helped a small cohort of GPA members develop and grow their businesses online, and with this second round, we hope to provide the same support to other members. Google is committed to supporting Irish businesses as they navigate their way through Covid-19 to the future beyond, and as uncertainty remains, we look forward to welcoming a new cohort of businesses to these mentoring sessions that will help them gain lifelong digital skills.”
