Former Players Event

For the past 6 years, the GPA have hosted the Annual GPA Former Players Lunch on the eve of the All Ireland Football Final. The aim of this lunch is to honour legends of the game for their contribution to Gaelic Football and Hurling. As well as honouring some of the greats of our games on their past achievements our ambition is to grow this event, expand our ‘Alumni’ of former players and enhance the level of support we can provide to former players if & when needed.

Due to the huge demand for this event each year, the GPA have now decided to run two events for former players in 2019.

The GPA Hurling Legends Lunch will take place on Saturday the 17th of August on the eve of the All Ireland Hurling Final.

The GPA Football Legends Lunch will take place on Saturday the 31st of August on the eve of the All Ireland Football Final.

At the 2019 Hurling Legends Lunch/ Football Legends Lunch we will recognise the achievements of 5 hurling/ Football All Ireland winners through the decades from 1969-2009 including the 2009 Kerry football team, the 2009 Kilkenny hurling team, the 1999 Meath football team, the 1999 Cork hurling team, the 1989 Cork football team, the 1989 Tipperary hurling team, the 1979 Kerry football team, the 1979 Kilkenny hurling team, the 1969 Kerry football team and the 1969 Kilkenny hurling team. While we are honouring those 5 teams, we also invite all former inter county footballers to be present and enjoy the event.
