GPA Welcomes 2027 Integration Date

The Gaelic Players Association welcomes today’s announcement that full integration between the Camogie Association, the GAA and the LGFA will be achieved by 2027.

The announcement is a significant milestone to be celebrated and the GPA thanks the Steering Group for Integration led by former President of Ireland Mary McAleese for its work to date.

There is now a clear deadline in place which allows all relevant stakeholders to focus on achieving one, united association where there is equality of treatment of female and male players and members.

Inter-county players are proud to have kick-started this process by bringing the motion on integration to GAA Congress in 2021, which was subsequently replicated at LGFA and Camogie Association congresses.

It again shows the positive impact inter-county players have within the wider Gaelic games family and how important it is that their collective voice is heard.

GPA CEO Tom Parsons said, “This is a significant moment in time for Gaelic games and the GPA will play its part in ensuring the process is a success.  It has always been the GPA’s belief that there will be far more opportunities for Gaelic games upon integration compared to the challenges that are often highlighted.  This is a very positive announcement for Irish sport.”
