Matthew Hoban

Financial Controller

Matt joined the GPA in 2016 as Financial Controller and is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the organisation. He leads the finance team with Shona Drumgoole and holds responsibility for protection of player’s image rights and representing players in personal commercial negotiations. His current role involves close liaison with the National Executive, Board of Directors and Board subcommittees as company secretary. He also represents the GPA on GAA committees including the Insurance & Risk committee, Le Chéile commercial partnership and acts as a Trustee of the GAA GPA Past Player Medical and Surgical Intervention Fund.

Matt has over ten years’ experience in a variety of accounting related roles across multiple industry sectors and countries. He is a qualified Chartered Accountant, holding a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies Degree, Masters of Commercial Law and is currently studying for an Executive MBA.


Eamonn Murphy

Player Representation Manager

Eamonn joined the GPA in 2010 following his graduation from University College Dublin with a degree in Sports Management. Eamonn’s role as Player Representation Manager is To oversee the delivery of effective player welfare and representation programmes and to ensure the voice of the inter county player is being heard by those who influence our games. 

A major part of this work is to ensure each squad has a robust Charter agreement in place with their respective County Board to ensure that players basic level entitlements in terms of travel expenses, gear, tickets and nutrition are being met. He is also currently studying for a Diploma in Sports Law through the Law Society of Ireland. Eamonn is still actively playing football with his local club and has represented his native Kildare at all levels.


Shona Drumgoole

Accounts  Administrator

Shona joined the GPA in 2010 on a part-time basis as Office & Accounts Administrator. Shona’s background is in Business Administration, Operations and Finance.


Karen Thorpe

Marketing & Communications Manager

Karen joined the GPA in 2014 and currently manages Marketing & Communications within the organisation. Her responsibilities include Marketing, Branding and Publications, Communications Strategy Planning, Social Media Management and Website Management.
