The National Executive is mandated by all members on important issues affecting the playing body and we are here to represent these views on a national level. The NEC is elected annually by the members of the Association and now is the time to have your say on who represents you!
Our AGM will be held on Friday 3rd November @ 1 pm in the Spencer Hotel, Dublin. Now is the time for you to make your voice heard! For any player who wishes to put himself forward to serve on the National Executive Committee they must be either a Full Member, Full Non-Player Member or Past Player Member and be proposed and seconded by two persons who shall be either a Full Player or a Full Non-Player Member of the Association.
As officers of the Association we have established a nominations committee to have 1/3 of the members of the NEC directly elected by the GPA members under the new constitution and to look at the current composition of the NEC across the country. At last year’s AGM it was agreed that a term on the NEC was automatically extended to a maximum of two three-year terms.
There is also a requirement for 1/3 of the NEC members to resign prior to this year’s AGM, with a further third resigning in 2018 and yearly thereafter. Any member who resigns is also eligible for re-election in line with the maximum 2 terms totaling 6 years.
An election only needs to be held if more nominations are received than posts available. Should the number of nominations equal the vacancies, then that person is elected unopposed. If more nominations are received then an election must be held. This will be held during November’s AGM and will be carried out by a simple show of hands, otherwise an online vote will be set up.
As the Chairman, President and Secretary of the Association we encourage you to have a say on the decisions that affect players lives now and in the future!
